Route :Leh to Shy Thiksey/Hemis – Leh (11562 i.e. 3524 mts)

After breakfast visit the monasteries of Shey, Thiksey, and Hemis. Shey – it was the ancient capital of Ladakh and even after Singge Namgyal built the more imposing palace at Leh, the kings continued to regard Shey, as their real home. The importance which was attached to Shey ‐ the seat of Ladakhʹs heartland ‐ is attested by the enormous number of Chorten about the village, particularly around the palace complex and barren plain to the north of the road. Thiksey –is one of the largest and most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompa containing images, stupas and exquisite wall paintings. It also houses a two ‐ storied statue of Buddha which has the main prayer hall around its shoulder Hemis – which is dedicated to Padmasambhava, what a visitor can observes a series of scenes in which the lamas, robed in gowns of rich, brightly colored brocade and sporting masks sometimes bizarrely hideous, parade in solemn dance and mime around the huge flag pole in the center of the courtyard to the plaintive melody of the Shawn. Route :Leh to Likir by Car – Trek to Yangthang (3700m) & 05 hrs. walk.

We will drive for 1.5 hrs to reach Likir, from where we will start the walk which goes parallel to a motorable road that ascends to Phobe La (3580m). From the pass, we leave the road to take a descending track leading to a gorge which finally takes us back on the road. At this point one can view Sumdo village with its few houses. We will leave the road again to climb up to Chagatse La (3630m) after crossing the stream on a wooden bridge.One starts seeing the Yangthang village where we camp for the night Overnight stay is at Homestay at Yangthang.

Route :Trek Yangthang – Rizong Monastery - Yangthang

Night Stay :Hemis Shukpachan, Homestay

Distance/Time Taken :05 – 06 Hrs.

Start the trek walking through village houses and along the river through the gorge with plantation of Apricot and Apple. After walk for an hour through the gorge, you reach on a rough Motorable road which enters into another gorge to your right hand side. It takes around 30 minutes before you will have the view of Rizong monastery. Rizong is the most isolated monastery of all the monastery of Ladakh. There is no entry fee in this monastery, you can offer whatever you can. After the visit of the monastery, you can also visit the monastery kitchen and have a cup of butter tea After the visit trek back to Yangthang. The way back to Yangthang is the same. There is a short way to go to Hemis Shukpachan from behind the monastery through a steep pass. Overnight stay is at Homestay at Yangthang.

Route :Trek Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan (3600m) (2 to 3 hrs )

This day comes with a relatively short walk to Hemis Shukpachen village. We will cross Tsermangchan La (3720m) to get to the village, which has its own beauty with a rich cultural background, myths and mysteries. There is a bunch of juniper trees on one side, which is not disturbed by the villagers for a superstitious belief they attach with it. There are a couple of guest houses and homestays too in the village. Overnight stay is at Homestay at Hemis Shukpachen

Route :Hemis Shukpachan to Themisgam – Drive Alchi

After an easy walk for an hour you will start climbing Meptak La. After the pass you reach Ang village near the river. After crossing the river you can walk down to Temisgam village. Board the vehicles and we drive towards Alchi enroute Lamayuru Monastery Visit the 10th Century Monastery, also called as “Yandrung Gompa” of red sect. After visit, enjoy. Later drive along the Indus River & passing thru the villages of Khalsi. Arrive Alchi & Check in for overnight Stay & Meals. Overnight stay is Hotel at Alchi.

We continueour drive to Leh enroute visiting Basgo is certainly the most impressive of Ladakhi citadels despite its ruined state, Likir gompa situated atop a windy cliff top overlooking the beautiful village of Likir. Morning after breakfast, drive to Tsomoriri. You along the Indus River up to Mahe Bridge. On the way you can see many beautiful villages of Changthang valley, Hot Sulphur Spring at Chumathang and many Nomadic Camps with their domestic animals like Pashmina Goats, Yaks and Sheeps. The Tsomoriri Lake is 23 km long and 10-15 km wide and the panoramic view of the Lake is amazing with Turquoise coloured water.Overnight stay at Camp in Tsomnoriri.

In the morning after breakfast at the camp explore the Village & Monastery of Karzok, which is the main Village of Tsomoriri in the Rupshu Plateau.. Korzok is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery belonging to the Drukpa Lineage and ancient village on the western bank of Tsomoriri Lake in Leh District, Ladakh, India. Korzok, situated at 4,595 metres (15,075 ft), houses a Sakyamuni Buddha and other statues. It is home to about 35 monks. In the past, the monastery was the headquarters of the Rupshu Valley. As a Drugpa order monastery, it was under the authority of the Hemis monastery. Two or four monks were assigned to run the monastery. Post Lunch; Explore the surroundings of Tsomoriri Lake. Wildlife as Kiang, “The Tibetan Wild Ass” and occasionally visible Snow Leopard are found here. Rare and exotic birds as Bar headed Goose. After leisurely breakfast walk around the lake and drive to Mahe village, a picturesque village with spurting fountain and white clouds hanging upon. From there, you will proceed towards Puga Valley, famous for Butan gas. Thereafter, you will continue towards Tsokar via Polokongka pass (at 13500 ft.). After visiting the Tsokar Lake, you can also see Thugke gomp. The place is quite known for wild Asses, seen grazing and moving in flocks. From here, you will drive towards Leh. On the way, you will stop to Tanglangla pass, the second highest motorable pass in the world at 5350 m. after, arriving in Leh; you will retire to your hotel. Overnight stay in Hotel at Leh.
